 RUNCORN RLC 10 Lymn Wolves 26 - May 17, 2009, 11:02:25 AM Runcorn slipped to an unexpected home defeat as Lymn put their dreadful start to the season behind them. The greens were not at the races in the first half and that was were most of the damage was done as they conceded three sloppy tries which the Runcorn coach Rob Calland described as 'gifts'. Runcorn gave themselves a mountain to climb going up the hill in the second period despite being in touch,just, after Kyle McGreevey had ran as fast as a pheasant to touch down after a sweeping home move. Dave Patterson goaled but that was the only return after the official had ruled out two tries for knock ons. Things went from bad to worse when the visitors grabbed a try just before the break. Runcorn valiantly tried to get back in it led by Lee Forshaw, Ste Arrowsmith and Chris Syers who made some good drives up the field led to Ian Cheveau burrowing over from dummy half. The conversion was missed but Runcorn had rediscovered their spring but that was soon flattened as Lymm used their experience and roughed things up, which the official failed to control and resulted in tempers boiling over. Runcorn won't play any worse all year while opportunists Lymn were delighted with their display. Runcorn's young side will learn from this and look forward to plucking Lymn another day. Coach Calland said: 'Yes we are disappointed but we will get over this and come back stronger it's a minor blip in a long season and we will exact our revenge.
